Best Single Website Hosting – Affordable Hosting Plans For One Site

Most hosts sell three or four hosting plans. Usually, the cheapest plan allows you to host just one website, while the most expensive plan features unlimited sites. (Read: cheapest hosts with unlimited websites.)

In this guide, we’ll list high-quality hosts that offer the cheapest single-website plans. This should be particularly useful for beginner webmasters, who rarely need to host more than one website, so paying for a plan with support for more domains would be a waste of money in their case.

As in all of our hosting rankings, we only list web hosts that have performed well in our tests.

Let’s dive in!

Best affordable single-website hosting

SiteGround

Our favorite by far. The quality you get for as little as $3.95 per month far beyond what you’d expect at this price. Plus, because SiteGround is one of the hosts that offer pro-rated refunds (in addition to a standard money-back guarantee), you can test out their service without unnecessary financial risk. They even offer discounted student prices.

If you’re looking for excellent website load times and uptimes, a responsive and knowledgeable in-house support team, and affordability, we strongly recommend them. Read our SiteGround review for more.

The only downside is the 10,000 monthly visitors limit. This may not seem like much, but if you’re just launching your first site, you probably won’t be receiving this much traffic for at least a year or two.

Basic plan highlights:

  • Starting price: $3.95/mo.
  • Websites allowed: one
  • Storage: 10 GB
  • Suitable for: ~10,000 visitors per month
  • Control panel: cPanel
  • Money-back guarantee: 30 days
  • Support: 24/7 Live Chat

HostWinds

Another great one-website hosting provider with competitive prices. They are cheaper than SiteGround, but this comes at the cost of somewhat poorer performance – but still more than enough for what a new website will ever need. See our detailed HostWinds review for more.

Plus, you get a free domain, and one of the longest money-back guarantees available. If that wasn’t enough, HostWinds is also one of the few hosts with free malware scanning and removal.

Basic plan highlights:

  • Starting price: $2.35/mo.
  • Websites allowed: one
  • Storage: Unlimited
  • Bandwidth: Unlimited
  • Control panel: cPanel
  • Money-back guarantee: 60 days
  • Support: 24/7 Live Chat

DreamHost

Although not as popular as most other hosts on our list, DreamHost delivers a surprisingly high service quality considering the price. They were the only host that came close to matching SiteGround on server performance in our budget hosting tests.

Just keep in mind that they don’t take free automated website backups – you’ll need to install a plugin (if you use WordPress) and manage backups yourself.

Basic plan highlights:

  • Starting price: $2.59
  • Websites allowed: one
  • Storage: unlimited
  • Bandwidth: unlimited
  • Control panel: custom-built
  • Money-back guarantee: 97 days
  • Live chat: 5:30 am to 9:30 PM PT

AccuWeb

At AccuWeb, you get one free domain if you buy an annual-or-longer term. They will also migrate up to five cPanel accounts to your new hosting account, free of charge.

Basic plan highlights:

  • Starting price: $3.09/mo.
  • Websites allowed: one
  • Storage: 10 GB
  • Bandwidth: 500 GB
  • Control panel: cPanel
  • Money-back guarantee: 30 days
  • Support: 24/7 Live Chat

Bluehost

Bluehost’s servers are definitely not as good as SiteGround’s or HostWinds’. However, if you’re planning to host a single website and do not anticipate having more than 10-15 users simultaneously browsing your website, they are definitely worth considering.

While Bluehost underperforms on server robustness, they make up for it with attractive prices, a free domain, and generous storage capacity. They are also on our list of hosts willing to negotiate on price, as well as one of our recommended hosts if you’re looking for the cheapest annual hosting plans.

Basic plan highlights:

  • Starting price: $2.75/mo.
  • Websites allowed: one
  • Storage: 50 GB
  • Bandwidth: unlimited
  • Control panel: cPanel
  • Money-back guarantee: 30 days
  • Support: 24/7 live chat

A2 Hosting

Solid one-website hosting at a great starting monthly price. Customer support is quick and efficient, and you get one free migration of an entire cPanel account. The unlimited storage and bandwidth will make life easier for beginners, but keep in mind the hidden pitfalls of unlimited resources.

You’ll also find A2 on our roundup of hosts with free backups and free restorations, which is impressive at this price point.

Basic plan highlights:

  • Starting price: $2.96/mo.
  • Websites allowed: one
  • Storage: unlimited
  • Bandwidth: unlimited
  • Control panel: cPanel
  • Money-back guarantee: 60 days
  • Support: 24/7 live chat

Hostinger

Hostinger is the cheapest one-website hosting provider on this list, but only if you are willing to commit to their four-year plan. What’s more, if you ask for a discount via live chat, you can secure your package for as little as $0.68 per month – that’s less than $33 for four years of hosting service.

Basic plan highlights:

  • Official starting price: $0.80/mo.
  • Negotiable prices: yes
  • Websites allowed: one
  • Storage: 10 GB
  • Bandwidth: 100 GB
  • Control panel: custom-built
  • Money-back guarantee: 30 days
  • Support: 24/7 Live Chat

Other solid (but more expensive) one-website hosts

Here’s a list of other hosts that offer relatively affordable one-website hosting but which weren’t cheap and good enough to secure a spot in our rankings above:

  • InMotion: $6.39/mo.
  • GoDaddy: $5.99/mo.
  • IPower: $3.99
  • PowWeb: $3.88

Is there a way to set up more than one website on single-website hosting?

Surprisingly, yes!

When a host lists “one website” as the maximum allowed on a hosting plan, what they usually mean is that you can only have one domain assigned to your hosting server.

However, it’s technically possible to create more than one website under a single domain by using so-called subdomains.

For example, if your primary domain is http://example.com, you can have one website under that domain, but a completely different site under a subdomain such as http://subdomain.example.com.

Most people don’t like the solution above because they prefer to have a different domain for each website (and rightly so – if only because domain names are easier to remember than subdomains). But it’s still worth noting that it’s technically possible to host more than one site on a single-website hosting package.
